The 2021 Census counted 8,627 people in Riverstone, and that number understates the change, because in November 2020 the suburb's boundaries were redrawn and Grantham Farm and Richards were created out of land that had been Riverstone. Forty eight kilometres north west of the CBD with its own station, the suburb is inside the north west growth area and building at the pace that implies.
